University of Sydney students and researchers come from all over the world and all backgrounds to prepare for a life of challenge and leadership. Our academics push the frontiers of knowledge to increase our understanding of the world around us, and by studying alongside world-class researchers, our students are exposed to excellence and taught to think critically. Outside the classroom, our student experience is vibrant and unique. We encourage all our students to participate in our 200+ social clubs, and have an outstanding track record of producing champions in sports ranging from swimming to rowing and rugby. Our student sporting body, Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness (SUSF), was established as the Sydney University Sports Union in 1890, to give students affordable access to as many sports as possible. In its inaugural year the union had 166 members; today SUSF has more than 14,000 members.
